What is the Early Childhood Apprenticeship Program?
The Early Childhood Apprenticeship Program is a hands-on training initiative designed to prepare individuals for careers in early childhood education. Apprentices receive both college instruction and practical experience in early childhood centers.
Who is eligible to apply?
Anyone who has their Associate Teacher permit and has 60 units of college courses.
What qualifications will I earn?
You will get your Bachelor’s degree from EDvance College.
How long does the program last?
The apprenticeship typically lasts for two years.
Are apprentices paid and what are my responsibilities?
Yes, you will continue to work your regular job. 😉 You will also receive technology for class and a stipend of $2000 when you graduate. You will also get a pay increase at that time.
Is there a cost to participate?
There is no cost to participate. Wu Yee will pay for all of your college courses.

When does the program start?
The program will start in April 2025.
What support is available for apprentices?
Apprentices receive mentorship from your lead teacher, your coach and your center manager. Additionally, they will receive support from a success coach to support balancing school, work and life.
Can I continue my education while in the program?
Yes! Many people who have gotten their BA then go to get their MA.
What career opportunities are available after completing the program?
Upon completion, graduates will be eligible for Lead Teacher, Center Manager, Home visitor and other opportunities.
Why join this pathway instead of getting my BA with just EDvance?
This is a cohorted model which means that you will have your co-workers and other San Francisco educators in class with you who can support you during your education journey. You will also have supports put in place, through the program for study sessions, group conversations, and more. You will also be supported with tutors, if needed.
